Last week our little man turned ONE!
It still amazes me how much can change in a year...
Xander,
You are so energetic, happy and full of life. Your calm demeanor is a welcome presence and you bring much balance to your high-strung, sometimes mostly dramatic big sis. You are the type of person who requires a lot of patience, but who also waits for perfect moments. (For example, waiting for your birthday to start walking and AHEM, sleeping fully through the night without a feeding.) You love your Daddy to pieces, giving him wet kisses, high fives, playing "ball," and rushing to the door to wave and say "HI" as soon as he walks in....BUT you are a classic Momma's Boy. Bryn is by far your best friend. Even when she is being a little rough, or crawling into your bed to retrieve your paci, or giving you your 10489374th hug of the day, you still laugh with her and follow her around with much admiration. You love your food, and have never skipped a meal. (Which is probably why you only weigh 1lb less that your big sis.) Your vocabulary is developing quickly as well as your love of animal noises. You can say things like, Mama, Dada, hi, ball, duck and dog. You can also "MOO" and "WOOF." You never turn down a book where you can touch the textured pages, or hear the silly rhymes of Dr Seuss. You love music: playing, listening, and dancing. You stood up to dance months before you took your first steps. Your athleticism is just like that of your Daddy. You are quick on your feet and smart with your movements. You learned to throw and catch a ball far earlier than we ever imagined. Anytime water is present you splash and laugh and play with reckless abandon. Peek-a-boo and Pat-a-cake are your favorite games, and either can stop you from crying in an instant. You arent the biggest fan of getting dressed and having your diaper changed because it slows you down. Can't I just be naked, MOM? You are a very early teether. You had 10 teeth on your first birthday and already have 2 more about to poke through. You find comfort in your pacifier, nursing, and after-nap cuddles on the couch. It has been a lot harder to wean you than it was to wean Bryn. (and secretly im ok with that) I love hearing you call out to me in the mornings, and I am so blessed that God chose you to me mine.
YOU. ARE. A. JOY.
Happy Birthday
Xan Man!
